Neighborhood streets throughout Burlingame are the primary trip origins for residents and provide the essential connections to local destinations such as schools. The following goal and policies identify ways to improve the functionality of neighborhood streets.

Ensure that neighborhood streets are safe and provide efficient vehicular access to residential neighborhoods and schools.

Identify essential pedestrian crossings and gaps in the multimodal network around schools, and establish and implement Safe Routes to Schools programs to improve access for children walking and biking to school. 

Master Plans Agency Coordination Studies and Reports Services and Operations

Develop neighborhood traffic-calming programs that support construction of intersection treatments and completion of multimodal networks, with a focus on pedestrian crossings and gaps in bicycle routes to encourage more active transportation trips.
